What are the most challenging parts of being a single mom? How did you overcome it?
For me, the biggest challenge I face is co-parenting, to minimise the impact to my kid. Things are getting better than before but still working on it.
What was it like to start dating again after you became a single parent?
It wasn't easy to take another step to start dating again at first, I am always skeptical about how can I juggle between taking care of my kid and maintaining a good relationship with my partner.
It does need some time to build a good relationship on both sides as well as relationship between my kid and my partner.
What do you say to your kid when he ask about their biological father?
When she ask about her father, I will tell her that even though we are no longer together, we still love her as parents and it's something that will never change.
What does your faith mean to you as a single mother?
Knowing that God will never give you more than you can handle, he has given me everything I need as a single mother. I came across a verse, "He heals the broken hearted and binds up their wounds." - Psalm 147:3. He will heal you no matter what you are going through.
Do you feel bad your child doesn’t have a “normal” family?
From time to time, I used to feel bad that I couldn't give her a "normal" family but I have come to consensus that feeling guilty does not help either my kid or myself. Hence, I ensure that I give her as much love, happiness and memories as I can.
Do you want more kids?
I have always wanted to have two children.
Now that I have one, if age and financial permit by then, I would love to have 2nd child! :)
Will a single mom ever find love?
Everyone has their own timing on picking themselves up, once they have come to terms psychologically and ready to open up their hearts, single mom can find love too!
What advice would you give to single mothers?
The past is the past, it has nothing to do with you now. Do not dwell on the past as it will only obstruct you from moving forward in life.
Do not keep things to yourself, seek help from either from family, friends or professionals.
